Travelling en-mass to the cold, windy tab homeland a large Oxford squad recorded a dominant league victory over their light blue counterparts. Straight from the off, Oxfords experienced first midfield string ripped into the tabs with Howie netting two without answer in the first five minutes as the pace and skill of the Blues proved too much for the tab midfield. This was to set the tone for the day with Oxford's experienced american trio of Chris, Tie and Ben tormenting the opposition defence and only Cambridge's scotland-hopeful goalie keeping the score respectable. Despite allowing a couple of sloppy goals, the Oxford defence again dominated, stopping a string of fast breaks and largely blocking any offensive threat with Nick and Steve both coming close to scoring on marauding runs as well. As the game progressed, some sterling work from the second string middies added to the score, with Olly and Brennan both causing havoc on dodges and Will bagging a couple. Oxford's newest recruits also showed that inexperience was no barrier, getting properly stuck in with some big hits and playing their part in the crushing victory.
Full time brought the final tally to 13-6, a solid result that leaves the tabs with a lot of head-scratching to do before March and nicely rounded off an un-beaten start to the league for Oxford. Special mention must go to Steve and Brennan, playing their last game for the Blues - cheers for all you guys have put in to the team this term.
